Omega Locksmith installs CX5 restricted high-security locks that ordinary hardware stores and automated kiosks are not equipped to duplicate.
Control who can order keys for your business, managed property or facility—without automatically replacing otherwise serviceable doors and complete lock bodies.

Your Locks May Be Commercial Grade. Your Keys May Not Be.
Many Chicago properties still rely on common Schlage, Kwikset or generic keyways. An employee, contractor, cleaner, vendor or departing tenant may be able to take one of these keys to a hardware store or automated kiosk and return with an unauthorized copy.
You can collect the original key later, but that does not tell you whether duplicates were made—or who may still have access.
One Uncontrolled Key Can Expose
- Exterior entrances and storefronts
- Management and accounting offices
- Stockrooms, warehouses and inventory
- Mechanical, IT and utility rooms
- Apartment-building common areas
- Master-keyed doors across multiple sites

Restricted Keys Backed by Verified Authorization
Managed Key Blanks
CX5 key blanks are distributed through authorized channels. They are not ordinary blanks stocked by big-box retailers, neighborhood hardware stores or self-service kiosks.
Authorization-Only Cutting
Omega Locksmith establishes authorized contacts for the system. Additional keys are cut only after a request is verified according to the property owner’s or security manager’s account instructions.
Specialized Security Groove
A specially milled groove along the CX5 key aligns springless side pins inside the cylinder, allowing the sidebar to retract. Ordinary retail key-copying equipment is not designed to reproduce this security mechanism.
Better Control Over Duplication—and Better Cylinder Protection
Resistance to Picking and Bumping
Multiple locking points and sidebar technology increase resistance to common covert-entry methods.
Resistance to Drilling
Hardened components provide increased resistance to drilling and other physical attacks on the cylinder.
Expandable Key Systems
CX5 keying can be planned for individual doors, departments, buildings and multi-property access hierarchies.
No mechanical lock makes a property invulnerable. The complete door, frame, lock body and access procedures must support the security plan.
Upgrade the Cylinder—Not Necessarily the Entire Door
In many buildings, the existing commercial door, lever, mortise lock or exit device remains serviceable. The weak point is the unrestricted cylinder and keyway.
Omega Locksmith can often replace that cylinder with a compatible CX5 high-security core while retaining the existing lock body and door hardware. This can reduce project cost, installation time and disruption to the business.
Final compatibility is confirmed during the on-site commercial security audit.

How We Implement a CX5 System
Commercial Security Audit
We inspect door functions, cylinders, exit devices, current keys and access requirements, then identify unrestricted keyways and compatible existing hardware.
Custom Key Schedule
We document which roles should open which doors and plan change keys, department access, building masters and management levels.
CX5 Cylinder Retrofit
Approved compatible cylinders are installed, pinned and tested while serviceable doors and lock bodies are retained whenever practical.
System Lockdown
Authorized contacts and ordering procedures are recorded. Future duplicate-key requests follow the verification process established for the account.
CX5 High-Security Lock FAQs
Can someone copy a CX5 key at a hardware store or automated kiosk?
CX5 uses managed key blanks and specialized security-groove technology that ordinary retail machines are not equipped to duplicate. Additional keys must be obtained through an authorized CX5 provider and issued under the system’s authorization procedure.
How do we order additional CX5 keys?
An authorized contact requests the key through Omega Locksmith. CX5 specifies a valid control-card process for duplication; we confirm the required documentation and verify the request against the system’s authorization records before cutting. The property owner may designate a facility director, property manager, security manager or other approved representative.
Do we need to replace all our doors and complete locks?
Usually not. CX5 offers cylinder formats for many compatible levers, knobs, deadbolts, mortise locks, storefront locks, exit-device trims and interchangeable-core applications. We confirm compatibility during the site survey.
What areas does Omega Locksmith serve?
We serve commercial clients throughout Chicago, Cook County, DuPage County and surrounding Chicagoland suburbs. Multi-location portfolios can call (773) 277-5625 to discuss coverage.
What is the difference between a restricted key and a common commercial key?
A common keyway may use blanks available through many retailers. A restricted-key system controls blank distribution and requires an authorized ordering process, giving the property better control over who can obtain additional keys.
Can CX5 be planned as a commercial master key system?
Yes. Supported CX5 cylinders can be organized into change-key, department, building-master and management access levels. The hierarchy should be documented around actual doors, roles and future expansion before cylinders are pinned.
Does a restricted CX5 keyway deactivate a lost key?
No. Restricted duplication controls approved copies; it does not deactivate a working key already in circulation. Report a missing key so Omega Locksmith can assess its access level and whether rekeying or another system change is appropriate.
